Top Ten Kiteboarding Safety Guidelines
Together they add up to PREVENTION
Prevention of injuries, deaths, Coast Guard Calls, and bans is a big concern yet with a little effort we can all help.
- P - Protect yourself, use a helmet, impact/ floatation vest and booties.
- R - Remove unnecessary risk, inspect your gear and choose the right size kite.
- E - Evaluate areas you are not familiar with before launching and riding.
- V - View the public as a hazard as they don’t understand kiteboarding, stay clear of them.
- E - Ensure a safe session and check the weather before heading out. Watch the sky while riding.
- N - Never fly a kite when there is thunder and or lightening.
- T - Take time to assist other kiters, we all have our bad days.
- I - Invest time getting to know your safety releases, practice pulling, resetting and self rescuing.
- O - Observe Laws, accidents and disagreements often lead to kiteboarders loosing water access.
- N - Never kite outside your limits.
